Institutional Change & Design Leadership: Breaking Into, Up and Out
Hothouse Two: Paris 10th – 13th July 2012

Following the first design leadership Hothouse in Brisbane in July 2011, Hothouse Two will set out to further advance the project of innovation and institutional change in design education. It will do so in the continued recognition of a constituency of educators critical of what is happening within and to higher education – not least because of its ongoing instrumentalisation and the growing disenchantment, and even alienation, of many educators.

Anyone – educators, design practitioners, writers – can apply. From all the applications 50 people will be selected. The event will be conducted in English.

The HotHouse will be led by Associate Professor Oliver Feltham and Professor Tony Fry with five team leaders: Professor Cameron Tonkinwise (Parsons/New School, New York); Associate Professor Oliver Feltham (American University of Paris) Mr Duncan Fairfax (Goldsmiths, University of London), Ms Anne-Marie Willis (Editor, Design Philosophy Paper) and Ms Bec Barnett (Pi Studio, Goldsmiths, University of London). Additionally three project groups will be run by Tony Fry and Leah Barcley, Chrisstina Hamilton and Kiersten Nash, Eleni Kalantidou and Bec Barnett.

The Hothouse is to be hosted by the American University of Paris with support from Goldsmiths, University of London with support from Pi Studio, Goldsmiths, University of London and in association with Griffith University, Queensland College of Art, Brisbane. There is no registration fee and food will be provided. Travel and accommodation are at the attendee’s expense.
